SUMMARY:Kippford Pickleball
DESCRIPTION:Pickleball is a racket or paddle sport in which two players (singles) or four players (doubles) use a smooth-faced paddle to hit a perforated\, hollow plastic ball over a 34-inch-high (0.86 m) net until one side is unable to return the ball or commits a rule infraction. Pickleball is played indoors and outdoors. It was invented in 1965 as a children’s backyard game in the United States. SUMMARY:Dalbeattie Men's Shed
DESCRIPTION:Dalbeattie Men’s Shed (DMS) is a free to attend place where men can spend time tinkering\, repairing and making things while socialising with others who have similar interests. A larger version of the typical man’s shed in the garden – a place for men to feel at home and pursue practical interests with a high degree of autonomy. The Shed is open Monday and Thursday morning for men to work at their own pace in a safe\, friendly and inclusive venue. DMS exists to provide facilities where men from Dalbeattie and surrounding area can meet to socialise\, and work with tools and equipment in a workshop environment. \nMembership is currently closed. but applications to join the waiting list are accepted from men in the Dalbeattie area:  targeted at those who live alone\, are lonely\, are disconnected from society\, or have handicraft aspirations but lack the necessary inspiration\, tools and equipment. Retirees\, Veterans and Carers needing constructive respite are prime candidates. Activities undertaken by the Shedders support the wider community and other charitable bodies by taking on DIY activities and make and mend projects\, chosen to meet the skills and needs of the members (for example refurbishing the Christmas Lanterns). \nBoth the meeting and workshop areas of the shed have been shown to improve the health and wellbeing of the Shedders\, by providing a social focus and a friendly working environment where they can participate in activities of interest to them\, and increase their social circle and craft skills.  \nPlease note: Although every effort is made to ensure that the information given in this website is correct and up to date\, the Initiative cannot be held responsible for errors or omissions. SUMMARY:Southwick Tennis Club
DESCRIPTION:The club was founded in 1928. We have two grass courts and are open daily during the season. The club’s normal season opens in opens in June and is open to visitors of all ages and abilities and is great for kids. Senior Night Mondays at 6.30pm – visitors are always welcome. Junior night – Wednesdays from 6.00pm to 7.00pm for under 14s. Junior Night is a fun evening for under 14s (and their parents) to come along and practice some tennis skills with other youngsters. An adult member will be present to help organise a few activities and make sure everyone get involved. Annual membership: Adults £25.00\, children (school age) £15.00\, Senior Citizens £20.00\, Family/Household £60.00 .A charge is made for both Senior and Junior nights as follows: Members £1.00; non Members £2.00 \nVisitors fees: Adults £5.00 per court up to 2 hours and £8.00 per court doubles. DESCRIPTION:Girl Guides is for girls aged 10 to 14 yrs. In Guides you’ll get out there and do something really different. You’ll create your own campaigns\, learn and share new skills and fly down the occasional zip wire. You’ll explore new places – Guides go on camps\, holidays and trips\, enjoy exciting events like our star-studded concert the BIG GIG and our music festival\, Wellies and Wristbands. You’ll never be stuck for something to do in Guides. Whether you want to dedicate your time to exploring the outdoors\, really focus on your hobbies\, or challenge yourself with something new\, you’ll find something at Guides that suits you. You can work towards interest badges – about photography\, geocaching\, human rights and more\, develop life skills with skills builders and work hard to earn unique awards like the Commonwealth award\, the Guide Gold award and the six Theme awards\, which will really help you at school and later in life. There are also international opportunities like the International Community Experience (ICE). ICE is an exciting three-stage project open to Girlguiding members aged 11-13. It brings Guides together from all over Scotland to have fun while doing something for others.
